"Missions are an important part of who we are as a church. We believe in teaching missions, praying for and giving to support missionaries and their work and in doing missions ourselves. Some of the agencies where individual members regularly serve include Meals on Wheels, Raleigh Rescue Mission and With Love From Jesus. In addition throughout the year one-time projects are carried out at various ministries. During the past year we have collected food monthly for Urban Ministries.
Our summer mission projects included preparing and delivering gifts to local police and fire stations and to our home bound members. The week of August 13-17 was our 2nd annual Mission to Raleigh when we had about 50 different persons involved in ministries at the Raleigh Rescue Mission, the Green Chair ministry, Salvation Army Women's Shelter, With Love From Jesus, Men's Homeless Shelter and the Helen Wright Center. Many other individuals baked cakes, make desserts, bought and brought cleaning supplies and helped collect food from their own community and brought it to the church. At that time we collected 2,565 pounds of food for Urban Ministries.
Some of our recurring projects include serving at the NC Food Bank, giving a birthday party at one of the women's prisons for women with April birthdays, adopting one cabin at Thomasville Children's Home and having them visit us at Christmas when we share worship and a meal and give them Christian gifts. At Thanksgiving we invite international students from NC State and share a traditional Thanksgiving meal and give them the historical and Christian meaning of Thanksgiving.
Beginning in March 2012 Temple's Table, a ministry to feed the hungry in our community, began on the first and third Sundays of each month. We serve in the church Family Life Center but also deliver to several locations around the city to individuals who would not otherwise have a hot meal that day. This has involved not only our members but volunteers from the community. What a blessing to serve together with other Christians!
The Challenge for Christ Ministries, a small international ministry/church uses our chapel for their meetings. Most of their members are from Africa. Their mission agrees with ours - to glorify God through His Son Jesus Christ and reach a lost world."
